Learn dutch

Dutch is really hard. It is a combination of english and german. For me, reading and writing is easy, but when it comes to talking. It's so hard for me to understand. Most specially when they talk fast. I need to catch up word to word. But I am doing better in school these days. This morning I answered all the school work perfectly. It is not bad for a new comer like me. Hope I will continue to learn and understand dutch. Next time I will share you some free online dutch courses.

Sinterklaas is coming to town!

Netherlands has different celebration of Christmas. Every first week of december there is a SINTERKLAAS coming over for the kids. This is the time too that people will give gifts to each other and specially to the kids. I have two neices and a nephew.

Im still thinking of gifts for them. But now I saw a website that offers gift ideas for kids. Like Cheap toys and nice new Gadgets. I am so sure the Kids will love it! It does not need to be expensive. What matters most is the happiness I will see on their faces after they recieve my gifts. It will be a very feeling deep inside. So I will be getting each one of them one of these days.

Unwanted Calls

I received an unwanted call from my phone last week. I don't know who was she. All she ask was If I am Jen, and I said, Yes, I told her my complete name. She said, She has different name. So I asked her, where did you get my number then? She didn't reply and cut off the call. So I tried to call and text her back but she's not answering. I was really confused who was that and why she called me.

I searched her number over the net and found a good site which you can report unwanted calls from unwanted numbers. Phone Number Reporting is a good way to know what the caller wants on you because there are lots of same numbers calling on each one of us. Maybe those numbers are from scammers. Better be safe than sorry.

So if you receive calls from number you don't know, search it on their site!

First day in School

I was out of bed around 7 am to get ready on going to school. It is my first day.
Hubby dropped me off around 8:45, classes starts at 9:15 AM.
Our teacher is so nice, She explains so slow so we can understand. This day, we are talking about the time, how to say it in dutch and how to write it. It was not that hard for me. I already know how to say and write it. Some makes it hard because they don't know how to write the Roman alphabets. They are using the Arabic, mostly are muslims.
Hope I will learn fast so I can finish it within a year!

is the Civic exam in Netherlands still required?

A friend told me that the Civic Exam in Netherlands is no longer required next year. It's a good news for all the new couples out there. For me, that would be great too, because when you arrived here in holland, you are required to take a dutch language course for 1 or 2 years, depending in your ability to catch up.

I read one article in IND website about this issue.

"On 15 July 2008, Amsterdam District Court ruled that a Moroccan woman who wishes to live with her husband in the Netherlands will not be required to first pass the civic integration examination in her country of origin. According to the judge, there is no basis for this requirement in the Aliens Act 2000.The State Secretary of Justice has appealed the court's decision. In the meantime, the current policy remains unchanged and the requirement to pass the civic integration examination abroad in order to obtain a provisional residence permit for family reunification still applies. We will of course keep you informed in the event of any changes in this regard."

Hopefully it will change next year.

So I have to be at home 8 weeks before due date.
Im so tired on waiting!
